Need You Emanuel Universal Music Canada Released: Single & EP: Out now

We say Drenched in longing and desire, Need You is the soothing debut single from rising Canadian R&B artist Emanuel. Upon its release back in April, the piano-driven ballad with lush, sentimental strings and smooth lyricism made an immediate impact with tastemakers across the globe. He was quickly named Apple Music’s New Artist of the Week, one of Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch, a Soundcloud Featured Artist and a Spotify “On the Radar” Artist. Since then it has clocked up over 1.6m Spotify streams and over 500k views for the collaborative video curated by Idris Elba. Last Friday (19 June), the talented Canadian followed up on his debut offering with his Session 1: Disillusion EP - a collection of tracks rich in emotion and soulful grooves. Dust In The Sunlight Dust In The Sunlight Project Melody Released: Out now

We say This gorgeous debut track is from north London duo Dust In The Sunlight. Singer-songwriters Billy Wright and Annie Rew Shaw met while singing backing vocals for Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly’s new album and was immediately struck at how well their voices melded together. After several writing and studio sessions, the pair found and built their songwriting formula around Annie’s ear for melody and Billy’s eye for narrative lyrics. And oh boy, it sounds glorious. Musically it’s a fine blend of Royksopp, The XX and London Grammar with the harmony-laden lushness of First Aid Kit driving the song along while hints of Elliott Smith and Joni Mitchell caress the narrative lyrics of this beautiful number. It’s early days but tastemakers like BBC Introducing, Radio X and Clash are already fans. You can watch the video shot in Berlin here. We love the grand ambition of their sound, all of which bodes well for their debut EP later this year.
